This series art is a tryptic of original art that was created by Rev. S. Jewell S. McGhee for this series on invitation. You know what I really love? Getting an invitation.
I love to be invited to a party.
It happened a lot when I was in elementary school, but it doesn’t happen so much now, as an adult.
When a friend reaches out to make plans with me.
It’s really lovely.

Of the people that go to church, 85% of them- go to that church- because they were invited.

When you don’t invite people, that is telling a story as well…. I thought it was because- you really didn’t want to see me outside of work, I thought it was because, you really didn’t like me., I thought it was because, I’m not the kind of person that would be accepted at church, I thought it was because I was an atheist, I thought it was because I didn’t have church clothes…

We fill in the blanks in the most soul-crushing ways…
There is something at stake in what we do, it matters who we invite. It matters how we invite.
But friends, it matters THAT we invite.
Jesus is worth sharing.

“Come and see!”
